Carlos Mallo Molina is a civil engineer specialising in ports and coastal infrastructure, founder and CEO of Innoceana, and a recipient of the 2025 Goldman Environmental Prize. After working on large infrastructure projects, he shifted his career towards marine conservation, connecting engineering, science, and community engagement to protect ocean ecosystems. Through Innoceana, he leads initiatives in Spain, Costa Rica, and California addressing marine biodiversity, environmental pressures, and ecosystem restoration. His work includes opposing damaging projects and advancing the protection of marine habitats. He advocates for an engineering approach that prioritises improving existing infrastructure, preventing ecological damage, and integrating nature into decisions from the earliest planning stages.
