José Manuel Entrecanales has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ACCIONA since 2004, leading a global group focused on sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy, and he also chairs ACCIONA Energía. An economics graduate of the Complutense University of Madrid, he began his career in 1985 as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch in New York and London before joining ACCIONA in 1991.

He takes part in several initiatives that promote sustainable development and climate action, including the UN Global Compact, the World Bank's Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition and the WBCSD. He is a trustee of the Princess of Asturias Foundation, the Prado Museum and the Pro-CNIC Foundation, and chairs the acciona.org foundation. His honours include Japan's Order of the Rising Sun and the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
