Martin Raiser has been the World Bank's Senior Representative for European Economic Cooperation and Head of its Paris office since July 2025, leading engagement with EU institutions and member states. He was previously the World Bank's Vice President for South Asia. His earlier roles at the Bank include Country Director for China and Mongolia, Brazil, Türkiye, and Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, as well as Country Manager for Uzbekistan. Before joining the World Bank in 2003, he worked at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy and at the EBRD, where he was Director of Country Strategy and editor of the Transition Report. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Kiel and degrees from the London School of Economics.
